Statistics

WHAT IS STATISTICAL COMPETENCE?

Competency in statistics, as one of the three competencies in the Mathematics Study Program, plays important role in decision and policy making. This important role can be seen when the information technology, data, and artificial intelligence (AI), for instance, intelligence machines, dominate jobs that were typically dominated by people. On the other hand, not many people are able to utilize both data and connect this data with this AI-based technology. In other words, people who have knowledge about data literacy, statistical competency, and ability to create a program that can make computer to learn from data are highly sought.

Students that have competence in statistics are expected to be able to master statistics and its applications in decision making such as health, industry, bank, tourism, and environment. It is hoped that they also be able to pursue career as academician, assistant researcher, consultant, practitioner (industry, service, government) and entrepreneur.

In order to achieve the goals mentioned in the above paragraphs, the students are expected to always improve their self-competency through technology literacy, human literacy and its development. In addition to this, they are also free to join any programs in Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka.
